Time is the great equalizer. Nothing beats it, nothing escapes it, it is the Alpha and the Omega. Time is the greatest enemy to all of mankind, it is one of the few things that we cannot control and it will continue for all eternity. Time has worn down species, men, and empires. Boy bands are no different, they had their time in the limelight and it ended, time made sure of that.
Its hard to place an exact date when the boy band phenomenon ended. It just slowly eroded away in popularity as young girls moved on to other things. However, one of the markers to its demise was the bankruptcy of one of its greatest proponents, Louis Pearlman.
Mr. Pearlman was the godfather to all of the boy bands that came out of Central Florida. It was his hand that guided the rise of NSync, the Backstreet Boys, O-Town and LFO. It was also his mismanagement and shady dealings that lead those same bands to severe ties with him and even sue him to recover money that he stole.
Mr. Pearlman never recovered from his mismanagement and his company had to file for bankruptcy. Now, like the Vandals picking through the treasure of Rome, you too can get a piece of a fallen empire. A bankruptcy court in Orlando has given permission for an auctioneer to liquidate the estate.
Unfortunately, unlike Rome, many of the treasures are not particularly impressive, unless you are a big boy band fan. Items include personal photographs, memorabilia, and CD's including those from artists like, Akon, Art Garfunkel, Creed and Jordan Knight. There are also two fake Rolex watches, a coin collection, and a 15 inch skull and crossbones necklace.
It is a pity that the collapse of Mr. Peralman's boy band empire was left with very little to compensate those creditors that he had defrauded, the Vandals were much more fortunate.
